[00:00:01] Hi friends, and welcome back to Glow in the Chaos. [00:00:04] It is Saturday and I want to start a little Saturday tradition. [00:00:12] We will call it our strength or our. I'm sorry, let's call it our Saturday strength session. [00:00:21] Today, on our Saturday strength session, I want to talk about when rest feels like guilt. [00:00:29] I'm so glad that you're here with me today. [00:00:32] Yesterday we talked about celebrating the small wins, and today I want to take a deeper look at something so many of us struggle with and that is resting without guilt. If you live with chronic illness, adhd, or honestly, just the pressures of everyday life, Moms, I'm sure you know about this. [00:00:50] You know exactly what I mean. You all know exactly what I mean. [00:00:54] Have you ever laid down to rest only to feel that nagging voice in your head that's saying you should be doing something right now? [00:01:01] I know I have. It's like even when our bodies are begging for a break, our minds are telling us that slowing down makes us lazy or unproductive. [00:01:10] But here's the truth. Rest is not weakness. Rest is not laziness. And rest is survival. [00:01:19] For those of us with chronic illness, rest is also medicine. [00:01:23] And for all of us, it's the foundation that allows us to show up for our lives, our families and ourselves. [00:01:29] We live in a world that glorifies the hustle and bustle and constantly working and running ourselves into the ground. But the human body was never designed to go non stop. Think about it like even the strongest machines need downtime, maintenance and care. [00:01:46] Why would we expect any less of ourselves? [00:01:50] For me, I have had days where just getting out of bed was all I could manage. [00:01:56] And instead of giving myself grace, I felt like I was failing. I had to learn that listening to my body was actually an act of strength, not weakness. [00:02:05] I wonder if you felt that way too. I'm sure that you have. [00:02:10] So if you have, this is. [00:02:14] This Saturday strength session is 100% flat for you. [00:02:19] Most of my life, I always had the need to go, go, go. So I'm sure you can imagine how chronic illness literally hit me like a brick wall. There used to never be a time when I was not doing something if I was not up and around. I was asleep. I didn't know the meaning of a relaxed day. [00:02:36] Looking back now though, like, maybe this is my body yelling at me for never resting. [00:02:43] I have definitely had to shift my mindset and tell myself that rest equals healing. If I don't rest, not only will I suffer, but my family will not get the very best version of me and the thought of that alone drives me to give myself permission to rest. [00:02:59] So if you are resting today, I want you to hear me. You are not lazy. You are not falling behind. [00:03:06] You are honoring your body, your health and your healing and that is something to be so proud of. [00:03:13] Let's start normalizing rest. Let's celebrate it the same way we celebrate hard work because both matter equally. [00:03:21] I would love to hear from you. Do you struggle with rest guilt?
